Successful Online Marketing in Europe: Bridging the Pond

These days, many U.S.-based marketing managers are expected to understand and extend their online marketing programs to European markets. But few of us have the knowledge of European cultural factors and regulations to do the job correctly. At the BMA October International Roundtable, Susanne Khawand, whose marketing management background spans the Atlantic, will explain the cultural and regulatory considerations attached to marketing to Europe-from the point of view of marketing IT companies business to business. Among the questions she'll address:

  • What is important for a U.S. company to know about and keep in mind when they start doing online marketing in Europe?
  • What cultural differences between Europe and the U.S. have an impact on marketing programs decisions?
  • How do various online channels work in Europe, compared to the U.S.?
  • How is email spam regulated in Europe, compared to the U.S.?
  • All will be from the view of marketing of IT companies and B2B.

Speaker:  Susanne Khawand, VP US Operations, MaCS USA.

Selecting the Right Media for International Audiences – Insights from the IDG Global survey
When you’re trying to reach international technology decision makers, how you select and execute both medium and message are critical to your success. For instance, a white paper may hit the right note in one country, but be absolutely the wrong vehicle to use in another. Email blasts may work like a charm in France, while in Germany a personalized newsletter might be the winning strategy. The right choices can create long lasting relationships and increase the ROI on your marketing dollar.
IDG Global Solutions has been conducting research on the technology decision making process for over a decade, and this year completed its most recent survey, focused on the US and Europe. This research not only highlights the key differences in how technology decisions are made, but also quantifies the relevance of specific media types within each market and at each stage of the decision process.

Speakers:  Kevin Hause, Director of Strategic Development, IDG Global Solutions
Patricia Kaiser, Director of Marketing Programs, Proofpoint, Inc.
